COASTAL COMMISSION
Coastal Commission Strategic Plan
Public Comment Opportunity
Commission’s Strategic Plan is a guiding document that provides a framework of goals, objectives, and actions to set priorities and guide the agency’s performance for the next five years. The Commission’s most recent Strategic Plan (2013-2018) is at the end of its planning horizon, and it is time to outline a new five-year vision for our agency. The 2013 Strategic Plan is available through the link below and may provide some helpful context for your comments and ideas.
We are asking for early input from the public regarding what priorities the agency should set out to achieve in the next five years. Comments may include, but not be limited to, insights on existing issues related to public access, coastal resources, climate change, environmental justice, Local Coastal Programs (LCPs), E-government, or the regulatory process in general. The goal is to understand the various challenges facing our coast in order to make this agency stronger and more effective, and achieve our core mission of protecting the coast.
You may provide comments through this portal through January 31, 2019. A public draft of the Strategic Plan is anticipated to be available in Spring 2019, including an additional public review period to comment on the draft. Questions regarding the new Strategic Plan may be directed to StrategicPlanComments@coastal.ca.gov.
