Subject: Solana Beach LUP Amendment
Dear All – yesterday, the California Coastal Commission unanimously approved an amendment to the Solana Beach LUP. This amendment removes the 20 year permit expiration date on bluff protection devices. It also significantly improves the definition of Blufftop Redevelopment. There was also a significant improvement in the policies that pose a major threat to the 3 condo stairs, and it does not include the requirement that property owners must remove an equivalent amount of square footage from their western frontage if they build an addition on caissons.
All in all, yesterday marked a major advancement in our cause, and a good day for property rights. I will provide more details in a subsequent report.
The next step is that the Solana Beach City Council must adopt the amendments certified by the CCC yesterday. I will keep you posted and provide further details later.
